Who is Jesus?

Simply put, Jesus is the Son of Jehovah God. He is not just another prophet, He is not Satan's brother, He is God come to earth. Some 2000 years ago, this Jesus descended from heaven and assumed a human form with which to relate to us. After all, what God is worth serving if they cannot relate to you and your pains and joys? This was just one of Jesus purposes in coming to earth. One of His other purposes was to spread the good news of God's love. Much the same as the prophets before Him, but also much differently. The greatest purpose for which Christ Jesus came to earth was to die on a cross for our sins. Why did he have to do this you ask? Time for a little history. In the Old Testament (the part of the Bible before Jesus' coming to earth) we are taught that once sin entered into the world, the shedding of blood was the only pardon. Blood covers our sins in the eyes of God. This was done with sacrificing animals such as sheep, goats, doves and several others. The problem was, if you sacrificed, then sinned, you were separated from God again. Another sacrifice was required. Obviously, this took time and money. Forward to Jesus death again. Jesus was the sinless Son of God, thus his blood was pure, uncorrupted by sin. The shedding of His blood was enough to cover the sins of the world, even to now and the future. But alas, who wants to serve a dead god that cannot answer them in prayer? As Jesus is God, he has power over everything He created (which IS everything). He was resurrected 3 days later in a new spiritual body. About 40 days later Jesus ascended back up into heaven and is there now.

What is salvation?

Salvation is the means by which we accept Jesus as our Savior from sins. While Jesus death on the cross did cover all the sins of the world, we have to accept Him to do us any good. Think of it as a present. The present is free, someone else has already paid the price and is holding it out to us. We can stand there and look at them and the present, knowing it is ours, but unless we take it from them, it never really is ours. It does nothing for us. Same with salvation. It is free. Jesus paid the price of death on the cross. But unless we accept that gift...nothing. None of the benefits of salvation will ever be ours and sadly, we will have condemned ourselves to hell. Some people ask, why would a loving God send me to hell? Well the answer is, He doesn't. In the beginning, Satan was an angel of God, but he rebelled against God and 1/3 of the angels followed him. God created hell as a place for the rebelled angels never intending mankind to set foot there. Unfortunately, sin entered into the human race through Adam and Eve. Forever after we are corrupted and should be sentenced to hell as sin cannot enter into heaven. You are born into sin and deserve hell since day 1. But God through His great love for us provides a way to escape, salvation. So what great works must you do to obtain salvation? None. It is free. Acknowledgement is the only 'work' we must do. Pray a prayer to God now to accept His Son as your Savior.

Dear Jesus,
I confess that I am a sinner, I know that I deserve hell but ask for your forgiveness of my sins. I accept Jesus as my Savior. I pray that you will help me to walk in all your ways. Thank-you for saving me from my sins and being my Lord and God. Amen!

If you said that prayer in your heart and really meant it, you can now call yourself a Christian! But you must mean it. Go find a good Bible-teaching church and learn. If you do not have a Bible, buy one and read, read, read. Go to God with all your cares and He will  help. Maybe not when you expect, but "the future is hopeful because God is faithful". Share your decision with friends and be a witness for Him.
